Challenge # 14 : Make your own Flower Embellishments ( no Halloween)

Hi everyone, and welcome to our Crafting with Dragonflies Challenge Blog, a great big Hi to our new followers......thank you all for making this blog possible.....wouldn't work without you.....
This fortnight we are asking you to
create your own Flower Embellishments
and you will need to tell us how or what you did, and if you can add a link great, if not, thats ok.
You can just have the flowers or put them on something, the sky is the limit, up to you, card, scrap page, box or on their own....made from paper, fabric, gauze, leather, old books, anything....

Once again we are honoured to have some great Guest Designers on board with us and here is
a gorgeous creation from Karen, she used wool felt to create these flowers.

Here is Julie's fantastic multi media art work( and another Aussie girl)
I am a stay at home Mum. I have 5 kids, ranging in age from 21 down to 2, and a patient Hubby. We live at Macksville on the Mid North Coast of NSW Australia. I love nothing more than doing crafts for relaxation and enjoyment. I have been making cards for the last 21 years.
I have studied Art full time over 5 years and love all types of Art and Craft including, Painting, Folk Art, Ceramics, Jewellery, Mosaic, Teddy and Doll Making, Dance Costumes, and more recently Hair Accessories.
I have also taught classes in many of the above crafts to Ladies and Children, at Spotlight and various other places.
I also work a few shifts a month in a craft gallery in Nambucca Heads, where I sell some of my work!
I gather inspiration from many other artists, but always add my own flare to my work. I hope you will gather inspiration from me also.
Enjoy my Blog and don't forget to follow me and leave your comments. Yours in Craftiness Hugs Julie xox

we also have CG with us today as a Guest Designer , please make her feel welcome....
here is a little about her:
I'm a crafter living in Baltimore, Maryland, with my husband, a green iguana, and two unusually-large Miniature Schnauzers. I especailly enjoy interactive elements on my cards, and I absolutely love heat-embossing! I'm very lucky to have found the online creative community, and I just love visiting blogs by crafters around the world. Best,
CG

If you would like to be considered as a Guest Designer, then please put GD after your entry, thanks.

Design Team Craft Room Reveal - Susan

Hi everyone, well here we are with our second
Craft Room Reveal....
Each week I will have the pleasure of showing you one of our Design Teams Craft Rooms or Craft area.......last week you were able to see Ina's gorgeous room, now it's Susan's turn...

Susan is another one of our Aussie girls and here is her gorgeous room,  this is in her words, make sure you visit her blog as well and leave her some love.....have fun, blessings Hilde

 Susan
I tidied up my space (Susan) and did some reorganising,
so will only show a few piccies of it now, not then!
I am downstairs under the main living space with a spiral staircase between. Hubbies wood-working workshop is on the other side of the wall behind the computer desk. He has a part of my space for his desk and filing cabinets, and some shelving. There is a bathroom and wine storage area (in the shower!) between the two spaces!

Between the glass walls (windows) to outside I have squeezed this cupboard and drawers.  Paper storage either side and the middle is mostly ribbons plus embellishments. I am going up and up and have almost obscured a lovely crayon drawing I purchased of a ketch in Ireland. Need to lift it a bit higher perhaps? Drawers contain wooded stamps mostly.

Turn right and you see the table hubby first built me to craft on.  Covered with stuff most of the time now. Note the ink storage on rhs - hubby built that too. VERY sturdy and heavy (like all his work!). Under this table is more paper storage, mostly. I use big plastic bins for SU card. The plastic drawers have Momento inks, and current SU ones. The round container has sponge bits for each ink colour stored in it. Behind the plastic is a basket of punches. On the lhs of the table are two CD towers containing all my non-SU plastic stamps - its full! Ribbons cascade off this on one side.

Inside the cupboard is more ribbon (top shelf), re-inkers and TH's inks, pencils and stuff Bottom shelf has chipboards, washi tapes, useful stuff......and paints! Door hanging is sprays and daubers and stuff.....

Turn left and you look at my standing desk where I work (back problems) and it is hard to make out what is what because my hubbies desk and shelves are over the back. The boxes with the x's were made by John to hold my Copics but that collection grew too big so now I have a big black canvas box/bag thing for them. LHS has paper flowers, black box has photos, the RHS has a basket of useful paper bits.  Shelf under has my cutters and rulers, and bling boxes and some extra card, and the sticker collection......might move that.....and the baskets hanging below that have (rhs) more stickers and (lhs) white card.  The plastic file has EP stuff on top and in top three drawers; then flowers and the bottom purple two are wooden bits and lace.
Under the table is a mess!
Put your back to the cupboard and you look at the internal wall. Shelving has SU cling stamps, boxes of letters. the green canvas basket has punches (behind the screen).

Under the desk is the Christmas supplies and the sewing machine!

The wall behind the stair has  the wooden SU stamp sets, the extra ribbon, the card stock, made-up items, my painting gear, die-cuts in baskets, albums.....magazines, sewing gear.....small paper pads and in another plastic wheelie on floor that you cannot see, there are other paper pads and freebie papers from magazines.
To the left of this is another cupboard set, with the Big Shot on top and more dies and embossing folders. The book shelves hold mostly non-fiction books.  There is a row of MS punches of course. This cupboard has my SU business stuff and lots of supplies and thing needed to assist me in my crafting! The mess on the rhs is made up of w/c paining pads, boxes and things too good to throw away. The lhs is the printer .That'll do................

WOW, that is all I can say, thanks Susan for the tour...blessings Hilde
(That took two cups of coffee looking at all your lovelies...... )

Just a friendly reminder about our rules...

 Image is from the Graphicsfairy

Hi everyone, what a great bunch of followers we have, and I am so honoured and chuffed, that we have reached and gone over the 200 mark, and I apologise that I was remiss of making it a momentous occasion...which it is of course...
So a big Hello and Thank You to you all....
Dragonfly hugs xxxooo
So I will set another goal shortly and add some freebies, so watch this space...

This is just a friendly reminder about our rules, please read them before entering, as we alternate between cards and a projects so cannot accept a project or 3d items when it is a card challenges or vice versa....
The other thing is the image or theme...
In our rules at the top tab you will find out that we don't allow any
Halloween, witches, or adult themed images in our challenges.
I am sorry to say, that any entries with these images will be disqualified....
But if you have read the rules, you already know that...............thanks

I checked a lot of other challenge blogs before I set up ours and they all have rules in one form or another, and reading some of them (geeze!!) we are pretty straight forward and very basic really....

Our Dragonflies love visiting your blogs and it is just awesome to see how much talent is out there...and how so very creative you are, I get so many ideas for other projects just by visiting you...
And doesn't time fly when you do that???
Please make sure your word verification is off, so our girls don't have to jump through hoops to leave you a comment...

I pray you have a wonderful creative week, and have fun...it takes more muscles to frown than to smile.....really? I never knew that....Smile and make someones day.....

 many blessings Hilde

DT Call is complete
A very big heartfelt thank you to all that applied via our blog and via email........
I would like to introduce you now to our two new Dragonflies.....please make them feel welcome

Say hi to Sammy

My name is Sammy and I live in Leeds in the UK with my husband and two kids. I started card making last summer when I bought a Docrafts goodie bag on a whim for the kids to make fathers day cards with. As there was so much in the bag and hubby’s birthday only a couple of days later, we made birthday cards too, and I enjoyed it so much, I soon started getting more and more bits to play with. Well, you can all relate to the slippery slope that becomes!
I started my blog in July this year, and not long after took the plunge to start stamping and colouring images, rather than use pre-made toppers. My addiction has now gone to a whole new level! And with the recent addition of a die cutting machine, I don’t think life will ever be the same…
My main obsessions are LOTV stamps and designer papers and I LOVE making boys cards, but will pretty much try anything twice! xxx

and a big hello to Wynn

Hi I'm Wynn. I was born in England but now I'm happily retired, from teaching, and living in in sunny Cyprus.
I've always been interested in Arts and Crafts but only began making cards when I arrived here in Cyprus almost 12 years ago. I began mainly to raise money for a charity I'm heavily involved in here in Paphos. (We raise money for the Renal Unit at the local hospital.)
I also hold a weekly card and papercraft group for ex.pats on a voluntary basis for the P3A or otherwise known world wide as U3A.....but this Cyprus!!! (long story)
I have tried most techniques as I love variety and also I need to think up lots of new ideas for my crafters. Each week I introduce them to a new technique or fold or piece of equipment to stimulate their interest. It's very, very difficult to get crafty goodies here and we rely heavily on internet shopping.....but you can imagine the postage is horrendous. So anyone who visits the UK always has a 'shipping' order to bring back!!
If I was asked to choose one thing 'crafty' I would say altered items and I've recently managed to get some liquid pearls brought back from the UK, so they are my faves to play with at the moment.
I too have only just started blogging and I wonder what took me sooooooooooooo long. I love it!! Especially meeting new crafters and sharing ideas. It's becoming an obsession now :). I guess most of you reading this will know what I mean.

We are blessed to have a Guest Designer with us....If you would like to be a Guest Designer, just leave a GDT after your name in your entry...
Here is one lady that leaves the best comments ever, and am pleased to have her on board.
Karen Letchworth
My name is Karen Letchworth.  I am, first and foremost, a Christian; and also a crafter who LOVES making cards, mini albums, and all things creative.  I've been happily married for over 28 years, and we have three amazing children (ages 14, 21 and 26).  God has blessed my life in so many ways, and I love to share my art and a bit of my life on my blog,My Cup Runneth Over.  I enjoy meeting crafty new friends, and would love to have you stop by my blog to say hello or become a new follower, and I will always do the same in return.  I'd like to thank Hilde and the Design Team at Crafting With Dragonflies for inviting me to Guest Design with them.  I look forward to seeing your art, and hope you enjoy these challenges as much as I did.  Thanks for having me!

Now here are some gorgeous examples from our wonderful Dragonflies:

This most intriguing and very arty creation is from Tania

This divine creation is from Ina, so elegant

This gorgeous creation is from Kelli, she has used butterfly punches to create the tree

This gorgeous creation is from Judith, love the colours and landscaping, and the background...

made this lovely centre step card with an image from tiddlyinks

Here our Susan has created two wonderful Cards with leaves

Here is Mine, with a hand drawn image I made just for this challenge.

And even though the new girls didn't have to start with this challenge they wanted to.

Here is Sammy's cute card:

And here you have Wynn's teabag folded Christmas Tree
And there you have it, hope this has inspired you enough to go and create, looking forward to checking out your creations.
(Gentle reminder: please no Halloween cards or images.)

Many Blessings from Hilde and the Dragonfly Team
